This past Saturday I took a trip down to Ponchatoula for my cousin's graveside memorial service and to visit his final resting place. When I left there my daughter and I headed towards Mandeville, LA to go check out a few shops and while in the area I wanted to finally see Fountainbleau State Park. I've admired so many other artists images from there, but never had the chance to check it out myself. Now, first things first...........this was a busy Saturday right at noon and it was the hottest most beautiful super sunny day ever. I had no idea what to expect, but you pay to drive into the park and then we drove straight towards the "beach" area. There were TONS of families out there having full on bbqs and picnics. Music playing, kids swimming, people hanging out. Wow, I just had no idea. It's not a very large beach area either, but there are huge covered long pavilions for people to find shade and port-o-cans (eeek). We explored the infamous spots that I've seen some gorgeous images taken. Small, but still cool to finally be there. In true real-life fashion, I asked my girl to take a few "test shots". So here we are, FULL sun, lulu lemon, free people and slides getting a feel for things. All in all, even though it was totally different than what I had imagined, I liked the spot. Of course, I would want to be there late afternoon and I just wish it was closer!!!! It's the whole swamp on a beach thing that reels me in. So very Louisiana swamp, but with sand. Please don't let these images fool you, the water is NOT anything but dark brown! ;)
